  Guidelines for Entry into the Nigerian Navy for NNBTS Batch 37



The Nigerian Navy invites eligible Nigerians to apply for recruitment into the Navy through the NNBTS Batch 37. Below are the key guidelines and educational requirements for applicants:



Eligibility Criteria:

1. Citizenship: Applicants must be Nigerian citizens by birth.



2. Age Requirements:

For categories requiring School Certificates (A5, B1, B2, B3, C1, D1, D7, E2, E3, E4, F1), applicants must be between 18 – 22 years of age by 31 December 2024.


For categories requiring NCE, OND, Registered Nurse/Midwife qualifications (A1, A2, A3, A4, B4, C2, C3, D2, D8, E5, E6, E7, E8, E9, E10, E11, E12, F2, J, K, and N), applicants must be between 18 – 26 years by 31 December 2024.


3. Marital Status: Applicants must not be married.


4. Criminal Record: Applicants must be free from any previous criminal conviction by a court of law.


5. Physical and Medical Standards:


Applicants with medical conditions such as sight problems, ear issues, communicable diseases, stammering, mental disorders, or physical disabilities are not eligible to apply.


Tattoos are prohibited.


Minimum height: 1.69 meters for males, 1.65 meters for females.


6. Educational Qualifications:

Applicants must have a minimum of 5 credits in relevant subjects (including English and Mathematics) in one or two sittings of the following:


WAEC, GCE, NECO, NABTEB, City & Guilds, or an equivalent qualification.


For higher-level qualifications like OND, NCE, or professional certifications, applicants must provide their statement of results.


Primary School Leaving Certificate is also required.


7. National Identification: Applicants must provide their National Identification Number (NIN).


8. Document Submission:


Birth Certificate or Age Declaration.


Credentials, including First School Leaving Certificate or Testimonial.


Identification Form signed by appropriate authorities from the Applicant’s Local Government Area (LGA).


Parent/Guardian Consent Form.

Police Certification Form.

Guarantor’s Form.


9. Application Process:


The application form must be completed and submitted online.

Photocopies of all relevant documents must be presented at the recruitment centers.


Scratch Cards of WAEC, NECO, GCE, and NABTEB results must be brought to the recruitment centers.




10. Recruitment Aptitude Test: The test will take place on 18 January 2025.


Educational Requirements for Each Category:


1. A1 – Marine Engineer Artificer (MEA): Minimum of 5 credits in SSCE including English, Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry. OND is an advantage.


2. A2 – Weapon Electrical Artificer (WEA): Minimum of 5 credits in SSCE including English, Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry. OND is an advantage.


3. A3 – Aircraft Engineering Artificer (Airframe/Engine): Diploma in Airframe and Engine (ICAO certified) plus SSCE credits in English, Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry.


4. A4 – Aircraft Engineering Artificer (Avionics & Aircraft Electrics): Certificate/Diploma in Aircraft Electrics & Avionics (ICAO certified) plus SSCE credits.


5. B1/B2/B3 – Engineering Mechanics: Minimum of SSCE with 5 credits in English, Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry. Technical training or Trade Test II is an advantage.


6. C1 – Communications: SSCE with 5 credits including English, Mathematics, and Physics.


7. D1 – Seaman: SSCE with 5 credits including English and Mathematics.


8. D2 – Survey Recorders: OND in Land Survey, Cartography, GIS, plus SSCE with credits in English, Mathematics, Physics/Geography.


9. F1 – Medical Assistants: SSCE with 5 credits in English, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology/Health Science, and Physics.


10. F2 – Health Technicians: OND in relevant fields such as Biomedical Engineering, Dental Surgery, Medical Imaging, etc., plus SSCE credits.


11. J – Journalists: OND in Mass Communication, Journalism, Photography, or related fields, with SSCE credits including English and Mathematics.


12. K – Nurses: RN qualification, with SSCE credits in English, Mathematics, Biology, Physics, and Chemistry.




Important Notes:

False Documentation: Applicants found guilty of presenting false or forged documents will be disqualified and handed over to law enforcement.


Military Training: Successful candidates will undergo basic military training and, upon completion, will be enlisted as Ordinary Seaman in the Nigerian Navy.
